Glynn & Sue Humphreys have kept Irish Wolfhounds for over thirty years, although Sue's relationship with Irish Wolfhounds goes back a lot further. Having been brought up with Irish Wolfhounds and having the privilege of studying under the watchful eye of Ruth Jenkins of Eaglescrag Irish Wolfhound Kennels, Wales, G.B.   Irish Wolfhounds have always been a large part of their lives and their children - Charles, Daniel, Samuel, Elizabeth, Hannah,  and granddaughter Rachel have never lived with out a faithful Irish Wolfhound as a companion.

After a long absence from the show ring, they began showing again after they purchased 'Gairbraid Ciaa' (Ch. Gairbraid Cayenne x Cnoccarne Rauragh of Gairbraid) from Carole Jeninga of Manitoba in early 2001.  Sue then purchased 'Heathview Courage of Faith' (Ch. Stoneybrook Konjour x Ch. Heathview Breena), whom she co-owned with the Rutherfords of Heathview Irish Wolfhounds for a short period of time, before taking on full ownership.

After extensive research into Irish Wolfhound lines and Breeders on the North American continent as a whole,  Sue and Glynn purchased 'Monageer Cait' (EIR) (Calcara de Danann x Ballyblarney Alma) from Southern Ireland in early 2005, at the same time purchasing  'Heathview DanTessa' (Ch. Heathview Uriel x Ch. Hyderbeck Golden Sponge (GBR)) from the Heathview Kennels.

In September 2006, Hawkhaven Irish Wolfhounds had their first litter of puppies in Canada, (Am. & Cdn. Ch. Lonnkyle Normadie x Heathview Courage of Faith).  This was our 'Cian' litter from which came,  'Ch. Hawkhaven Cian Cadarn', 'Ch. Hawkhaven Gilda at Windseeker', 'Ch.  Heathview Imogen of Hawkhaven', 'Ch. Hawkhaven Cian Rowann', 'Ch. Hawkhaven Cian Mawn' and; 'Ch. Hawkhaven Cian Maeve'.

Hawkhaven Irish Wolfhounds are well socialized. Living on a lakeside working farm, in central Alberta, helping with chores, and livestock, playing in the lake or welcoming and interacting with the many visitors to the farm.   Members of the Irish Wolfhound Club of Canada, the Irish Wolfhound Club of America and The Irish Wolfhound Society of the UK,  as well as The Canadian Kennel Club, the Humphreys family are committed to protecting this wonderful ancient breed by adhering only to ethical breeding practices and making the commitment to help, advise and share their knowledge.
